Hastings Borough Council (HBC) have always supported the Greenway project. From 1995 to 2008 HBC were key members of the Hastings Greenway Executive, a steering group tasked with developing and delivering the Greenway’s early pilot projects in or near the town centres rail corridor.

HBC’s Local Plan

The Greenways fits very well with HBC’s Local Plan objectives dealing with physical infrastructure, community infrastructure, regeneration, environment, and transport; and with HBC’s Shaping Hastings agenda which aims for an wholistic vision by 2026. Parts of the Greenway is now in the Local Plan.(ref TJA 2014). As of 2014 HBC are currently liaising with East Sussex County Council (ESCC) and Network Rail (NR) to determine the best way of delivering the next stage of the Greenway project. (ref TJA 2014)
