This pilot project was focussed on the Greenway potential of an almost derelict footpath (originally part of a 47 acre Brisco estate) located alongside Summerfield Woods. Then unsafe, use of the footpath by local residents and pupils of St Pauls School, had declined. Footpath restoration and enhancement would create a safe new greenway link in an attractive urban woodland setting. A Greenway link here, together with St Pauls link, would deliver almost 1/3 of the proposed Town Centre Greenway loop. The project was developed and delivered by the Greenway Executive which at that time (1995) included Hastings Borough Council, Hastings Trust, ESCC and Railtrack.
